Administering an Antigen Lateral Flow Test for Arrivals Day 2

For more information on using Antigen Lateral Flow devices, refer to the instructions supplied.

For an Arrivals Day 2 test, the app needs to capture a photograph of the Antigen Lateral Flow Test once a result has been generated.

Before taking the test, follow these steps:

  • Open the ExpressTest app on your smartphone
  • Tap 'Take a swab test'
  • If you have multiple profiles on your account, tap the profile of the person who will be tested (see 'Managing Profiles')
  • Link your test to the booking you made before you arrived in the UK by entering the Booking Reference (starting with CPT or SCPT and followed a series of numbers) from the original booking. It is important that the correct one is chosen for each person if more than one was booked
    • To help ensure that the correct the Booking Reference is  entered, it is validated against the data you entered when making the booking

You will need to watch the mandatory training and successfully complete the questionnaire in order to capture an Antigen Lateral Flow test result. See section 'Completing the Antigen Lateral Flow Test training' for more information if you have not already completed this training.

Your QR Code

Before starting your test, the app will prompt you to scan the QR code from the cassette in your test kit. The cassette is contained in a sealed packet. Once scanned it is validated to confirm the test hasn't been used  before.

Follow the instructions in the test kit to administer the test.  Once complete tap 'Start 25-minute time' (or use your own timer if you prefer) and then tap 'Next' as soon as the timer has runout.  The app will prompt you to confirm that you have finished swabbing, mixed the sample in the buffer liquid and added 4 drops to the cassette.

Camera Access

The first time you use the ExpressTest app it will request access to your smartphone’s camera so that you can take a photograph of your Antigen Lateral Flow Test result and your passport. Without this permission being granted, you will not be able to take the Antigen Lateral Flow for Arrivals Day 2.

The steps to capture the image differ slightly depending on whether you are an iOS or Android user – consult the relevant section depending on your phone.
