United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation (UK-GDPR) / EU General Date Protection Regulation (GDPR) lawful basis for processing personal data

 

Cignpost Diagnostics Limited will undertake COVID-19 testing services in accordance with article 6 (1) (f) of the General Data Protection Regulation,

  • the processing is necessary for your legitimate interests or the legitimate interests of a third party, unless there is a good reason to protect the individual’s personal data which overrides those legitimate interests.

 

Cignpost Diagnostics Limited will undertake COVID-19 testing services in accordance with article 9 (2) (i) of the General Data Protection Regulation, Processing of Special Categories of Personal Data

  • processing is necessary for reasons of public interest in the area of public health, such as protecting against serious cross-border threats to health or ensuring high standards of quality and safety of health care and of medicinal products or medical devices, on the basis of Union or Member State law which provides for suitable and specific measures to safeguard the rights and freedoms of the data subject, in particular professional secrecy

 

What personal data we collect and process

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Date of birth
  • Full address
  • Sex
  • Ethnicity

 

In addition, we collect and process the following for testing for Fit to Fly, International Arrivals (Day 2 & 8 testing) and Test to Release, as relevant

  • Passport number
  • Flight number, coach number or vessel number
  • Date of arrival in UK
  • Date transited through non-exempt country
  • Country/territory travelling through before entering the UK
  • Quarantine address (if different)
  • Vaccination status

 

What Biometric data we collect and process

  • A swab of fluid from the back of your throat and nostril

 

What purpose your data will be used

  • Contacting you about your booking or results
  • Processing payment
  • Performing security and ID verification during the sample collection and testing process
  • Processing your sample for a COVID-19 test
  • Producing a travel-related certificates
  • Using anonymised data for research and development
  • Reporting of notifiable disease testing under Health Protection (Notification) Regulations 2010
  • Genome sequencing to determine viral strain (Positive samples collected under International Arrivals service only)

 

Data processors and other recipients of your data

  • Clinical swab team, to verify your identity
  • Accreditation, scheduling, sample anonymisation and results communication software provider
  • Payment gateway provider
  • Public Health authorities
  • Genome sequencing partner laboratory

 

From time to time anonymised samples will be used for laboratory quality control purposes. At no time will they be non-anonymised, nor will they be used for any analysis other than the stated purpose of COVID-19 related quality control.

If you’re unhappy or wish to complain about how your personal data is used as part of this programme, you should contact Cignpost Diagnostics in the first instance to resolve your issue. We may have to work with partner organisations to resolve your complaint (for example the corporation/company that has contracted us to perform the tests on their behalf)

If you’re still not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
